How does this degree prepare students for a career?

Many graduates find careers in the logistics/supply chain, business services, hospitality, technology and retail industries. One recent graduate studied Arabic in Oman through an immersive foreign language program coordinated by the U.S. State Department.

Managing Individuals and Teams

Topics include traditional management functions, employee motivation, leadership, team dynamics, individual and group decision-making, and individual differences. Additional topics include social responsibility and ethics, diversity, organizational structure and design, organizational control, and managing innovation and change.

MANG 330:
Human Resource Management Fundamentals

Fundamental principles and practices related to the procurement, development, maintenance, and utilization of human resources. Focus on areas such as human resource planning, selection training, performance appraisals, compensation, safety and health and labor relations.

MANG 422:
The Individual and the Organization

Examination of how the individual, the group, and the organization interact to influence the behavior of the business organization and that of its human resources.

Extra Merit-based Scholarships

Incoming freshmen to the John Chambers College of Business and Economics may qualify for Innovators scholarships based on GPA. No additional application is necessary. These scholarships are in addition to University scholarships.

Requirements

What are the requirements to apply for Management at WVU?

To be admitted to WVU's Management major, first-time freshmen must meet WVU's first-time freshman admission requirements for the 2024-25 academic year. They also must meet one of the following admission requirements. Interested in transferring? Review the transfer admission requirements.

For direct admission to majors in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics:

  • GPA: 3.00

Admission to Business:

Applicants must also meet minimum GPA requirements for admission to the University.

  • ACT Math: 19
  • SAT Math: 510
  • ALEKS: 30
