Psychology, B.A.


The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program at Goldey-Beacom College will help prepare students for entry level employment in the social service field, education, counseling, mental health, or other helping professions. Successful students will also have the skills and knowledge to pursue further studies in the behavioral sciences at the graduate level.

Effective June 2015, the College entered into an Articulation Agreement with the School of Human Services at Springfield College, which allows qualified B.A. Psychology graduates from Goldey-Beacom College to enroll in the M.S. in Human Services with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling degree program. Interested students should speak with their Admissions Representative or Advisor upon enrollment in the B.A. Psychology degree at Goldey-Beacom.

Program Goals:

Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree, students will:

  • demonstrate an understanding of the major concepts, terminology, theoretical approaches, and historical trends in psychology.
  • apply psychological principles personally and professionally.
  • demonstrate how to apply research methods including research design, data analysis, and interpretation of findings.
  • demonstrate an awareness of ethical issues in psychology and adhere to high standards of professional, academic and scientific integrity, ethics, and values.
  • demonstrate a greater awareness of self and others, respect for others, and an appreciation of cultural diversity and individual differences.
  • obtain employment in a field directly related to psychology or pursue graduate study.
