Master of Science in Child Life Program

Students in the Master of Science in Child Life (MSCL) program at the College of Charleston are trained to understand the sensitive and vital issues involved in working with children and their families in the health care setting. Ultimately, child life specialists advocate for young patients and their families, helping them cope with stressful life events and challenges of hospitalization, illness or disability.

Our program offers a collaboration between the College of Charleston (CofC) and the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Coursework takes place at CofC and practicum experience takes place at MUSC – home to one of the largest child-life departments in the state of South Carolina, treating more than 10,000 children on an annual basis.

Graduates of our program will be prepared to pass the Association of Child Life Professional's Professional Certification Examination and become certified child life specialists.
