Studies prepare for:
- using for professional purposes a general knowledge of Information Technology and specialist knowledge of the chosen specialization: programming and information processing, computer graphics and multimedia
- working as a programmer; IT systems designer and analyst; WWW designer, network administrator; system and database administrator; QA tester; computer security specialist, computer graphic
- working as independent IT specialists or a member of a team and interdisciplinarily cooperating with all others using informatics in their work
A bachelor’s degree entitles you to:
- progress to MA programmes (e.g. in Informatics, Mathematics)
- undertake postgraduate course
Work placements
Compulsory work placements:
- 120 hours of practice that are co-organized with the private sector partners cooperating with the Lublin City Office in the field of IT solutions
Optional work placements:
- offer available in KUL’s Careers Centre according to your own predispositions, interests and labor market needs.
Graduates acquires IT skills required by the qualification framework of ECDL (European Computer Driving License).
Traineeships:
- offer available in KUL’s Careers Centre according to own predispositions, interests and labor market needs.
Skills acquired by Informatics graduates
Graduates of “Programming and information processing” specialisation
- are equipped with the core skills in data protection and cryptography, theory of graphs and networks and complex methods of algorithmizing
- have advanced knowledge of SQL; can create relational databases for typical purposes
- can program in objective languages
- can use design patterns
- can write scripts and design web apps in a selected framework
Graduates of “Computer graphics and multimedia” specialisation
- possess knowledge of mathematical foundations of computer graphics, methods and algorithms in computer graphics, computer-assisted image analysis, computer animation and internet graphics.
- can use computer graphics applications and tool apps for processing 2D and 3D animations
- skills for communicating within the professional environment with the use of multiple techniques
- teamwork skills
- effective negotiation skills; skills for formulating views and opinions on basic IT-related issues
- qualifications to act as self-employed specialists; preparation for developing a small-size IT company
- understanding the general, legal and formal requirements for self-employment with reference to the IT industry
- general knowledge of computer networks, operational system, databases, data structures, computer architecture, software engineering, computer graphics, computer-assisted data analysis and mathematical modeling
- skills for applying the mathematical apparatus in theory and practice, skills for proving theorems and assumption in IT problem solving
- ability to formulate problems arising at the stage of scientific research, making assessments and critical analysis of solutions, using IT tools in the analysis of problems and desire to further deepen knowledge in the field of computer science
Education requirements for admission
- Polish ‘New Matura’ Certificate
The result is expressed in percentage scale.
Competition on the basis of secondary school certificate – the result of the written test is scored on the one of following subjects: mathematics, physics or informatics. If an applicant passed more than one of the above subjects, the best result is taken into consideration. The qualifying score may not be below 35% at the basic level.
An applicant while registering is also required to submit a document confirming English proficiency at level B2:
- Polish Matura examination in English at the advanced level in the written part only with the result 60% or higher,
- or a certificate confirming English language at level B2 (see the list of English B2 Certificates)
- Foreign Secondary School Certificate
Competition on the basis of secondary school certificate – the result of the one of the following subjects is scored: mathematics, physics or informatics. If an applicant passed more than one of the above subjects, the best result is taken into consideration. The qualifying score may not be below 35% at the basic level.
An applicant while registering is also required to submit a document confirming English proficiency at level B2 (see the list of English B2 Certificates)
Admissions Office KUL wil convert your results into Polish grading system according to the score convertion rules.
- IB/EB diploma
The result of the written test is scored on the one of following subjects: mathematics, physics or informatics. If an applicant passed more than one of the above subjects, the best result is taken into consideration. The qualifying score may not be below 35% at the basic level.
Admissions Office KUL will convert your results into Polish grading system according to the score convertion rules.
The result is expressed in 1-6 or 2-5 scale, you can choose whichever scale! For the secondary school certificate obtained abroad choose “0” and upload your scanned SSC. Admissions Office KUL will convert your results into Polish grading system.
Competition on the basis of secondary school certificate – the result of the written test is scored on the two of following subjects:
a) Polish language (50% of the final result)
b) mathematics, or physics, or informatics (50% of the final result). If an applicant passed more than one of the above subjects, the best result is taken into consideration. The qualifying score may not be below 35 % at the basic level.
An applicant while registering is also required to submit a document confirming English proficiency at level B2 (see the list of English B2 Certificates)
