Social Work Major (Bachelor of Social Work)

Program Details
According to Newsweek magazine, the demand for social work skills places the profession among the top 20 occupations over the past few years. Career options with a BSW are as varied as career, marriage, drug rehabilitation and adoption counseling; casework with older adults, child welfare, foster care and family services; and many other human services professions.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that employment of social workers is projected to grow 12% from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations.

Practicum is a required part of the degree. Students complete 40 hours of pre-practicum and 420 hours of practicum as seniors.
Admissions Requirements
Creighton admissions are based upon:
- High school GPA
- ACT or SAT scores*
- Extracurricular activities
- Personal statement to demonstrate creative abilities not reflected in your transcripts
- Recommendation from high school counselor
- Honors sections and advanced placement courses will enhance a candidate’s application
*For students who are choosing to apply test-optional, ACT/SAT exam scores are not required at the time of application for admission.
