Tuition Waiver Opportunity
Students who are admitted into the Fall 2024 cohort will receive a 20% tuition waiver for the duration of the degree program.

Degree: Master of Science in Education (M.S.E.)

Career Path: Prepares graduates for positions as school building leaders, such as principal, supervisor, department chair, and assistant principal.

Start Semester: Spring/Fall

Campuses: Lincoln Center, Rose Hill, and Westchester

Application Deadlines:

ELAP strongly recommends that students start in the fall semester to be part of a cohort.

The Master’s in Educational Leadership prepares school building leaders:

Who are driven by core values of equity, social justice and inclusivity to ensure that each student has access and opportunity to thrive in optimal learning environments;

Who transform schools by using resources, structures and practices to promote the academic success and well-being of each student;

Who promote teacher development and success by observing and evaluating instructional practices and providing high-quality feedback to improve student achievement;

Who can solve school and community-based problems by enacting research-based leadership theories and tools for strategic school improvement;

Who collaborate with families and community stakeholders in schools and districts to develop and promote policies and initiatives that serve all children;

Who make data-informed decisions to develop and promote a vision for successful learning for all students;

Who are self-reflective and engage in ongoing professional and leadership development.

This is an intensive one-year master’s degree program over three semesters (Fall, Spring and Summer). Students participate in a full-year, clinically rich internship beginning day one at the candidate’s home school.

Students who successfully complete all requirements for the School Building Leader master's program will be automatically accepted into the School District Leader Advanced Certification program and may complete the requirements beginning in the summer session following graduation.

Program Prerequisites

  • Have a minimum of two (2) years paid, full-time teaching/counseling experience;
  • Be a full time teacher/counselor in an elementary or secondary school;
  • Obtain endorsement from a current supervisor;
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills (written and oral)

Fieldwork Requirements

Candidates seeking SBL certification are required to complete a one year, part-time (440 hours), clinically-rich internship at their current schools. Specific experiences are outlined at the start of the internship experience.
