The unique position of crafts is characterised by its ability to move between different artistic fields and arenas. The program centers the materials of glass and ceramics as fields for conceptual investigation and critical discourse through embodied material culture and practice.

During your studies students will be introduced to various working methods that challenge modes of production, materiality, modes of communication, and other theoretical investigations in a cross-disciplinary, studio-based program.

The two-year education is conducted through studio and workshop practice, seminars, exhibitions, study groups, individual and group supervision, field trips, theory, and practice laboratories, as well as other activities relevant to the education. The focus is on developing and exploring knowledge linked to our materials - ceramics and glass. The programme is built up of learning Modules for the entire Craft!- programme. Within these, you are responsible for the development of your individual master's degree project with help of individual tutoring. This you will do in dialogue with the education's faculty and staff, at the same time as you build a platform for your future professional activities.

In the programme, you develop your ability to critically reflect on your own practice specifically and the societal significance of crafts in general. The critical perspective is the guiding principle for all parts of the education. We strive to be in the forefront of our field of and to promote dialogue with other related fields of knowledge.

The programme prepares students for both professional careers as well as further studies.

Specific requirements
Bachelor's degree of Fine Arts in Crafts (equivalent to a Swedish Bachelor's degree of at least 180 credits) with specialisation in Ceramics and Glass, or equivalent degree/knowledge. Selection and assessment of applicant assignments
The selection is made on artistic grounds and is based on assessment of artistic portfolio, project proposal and interview. Read more about requirements and selection here.

In addition to applying via www.antagning.se, you must submit applicant assignments (portfolios/files)  to Konstfack's website. Important information about your applicant assignments

The selection process takes place in two stages. The first stage involves the assessment of the applicant's submitted assignment and statement of intent, on the basis of their ability to express themselves artistically and to adopt an investigative and reflective attitude, as well as degree of independence in expression. We also evaluate technical proficiency and craftsmanship.

In the second stage, a number of applicants are invited to an interview where the applicant’s motivation for undertaking the programme, ability to reflect on their own artistic attitudes are discussed in relation to the previously submitted applicant assignment. Based on these criteria described, an overall assessment is finally made.

Language of instruction
All teaching, tutoring and examinations are in English.

Applicant assignment for the 2024 autumn admission

The application consists of a CV, digital work samples according to the assignments, and a written project proposal where your aims and expectations for study are stated. This project proposal is a document that will follow the student and will be revised as his or her studies advance. Your application must be in English.

If your portfolio contains images of artistic work rendered in a 3D modeling program, rather than having been produced in the studio, so that they don't physically exist, it should be specified in the image description. If the object was created by someone other than you, per your instruction, it should be specified in the image description.

Submit four (4) PDF files
1. One (1) PDF named FIRSTNAME_SURNAME_CV.pdf; containing a CV in chronological order by year of the most important things you have done since graduating upper secondary school until now.

2. One (1) PDF named FIRSTNAME_SURNAME_PICS.pdf; containing maximum twenty (20) pictures of your 3-dimensional objects or projects, related to glass, ceramics, or other materials. Videos and films are to be described by stills (maximum seven (7) stills and/or links). Also include listed facts on the pictured material such as size, technique, material, display format, etc. and a written reflection (maximum 3000 characters) on the contents.

3. One (1) PDF named FIRSTNAME_SURNAME_REPORT.pdf; containing the report of your bachelor's degree project or equivalent project, and documentation of other relevant artistic works/projects of yours.

4. One (1) PDF named FIRSTNAME_SURNAME_PROPOSAL.pdf; containing a written project proposal explaining how you possibly aim to develop and deepen your knowledge within the subject area of glass and ceramics, and what you hope to achieve with the education. (Maximum 8000 characters).

Technical specifications
You must submit four (4) PDF documents named as instructed.
The PDF documents must not be password protected.

The selection panel will look at a projected image of the PDF files, so please bear in mind that we look at “the whole picture”. In order to be able to assess your work samples correctly, it is very important that you follow the technical specifications.

Video
In addition to the PDF files, you may also submit video with a total length of no more than 15 minutes.

Use one of the following formats for video: MOV, MP4 or AVI

The films must be compressed using H-264 compression.

Single files should not be larger than 100 MB. In total your portfolio must not exceed 500 MB.

Give the video files names using the format “Surname-First name-4.mpg”, “Surname-First name-5. mpg” and so on.
