The programme CRAFT! specialising in textiles is aimed at those who want to problematise and develop their own artistic project. This takes place in dialogue with teachers and other students in a creative environment with large and well-equipped workshops. The two-year programme is conducted through studio and workshop practice, seminars, exhibition situations, study groups, individual and group supervision, fieldwork, theory and practice laboratories, and other activities relevant to the programme. By using arts and crafts as a basis, in method and theoretical starting point, you deepen your master's project with great independence.

Textiles are ever-present as part of human history, experience and contemporary life. In many ways, it is both the basis for, and evidence of, the human ability to create complex systems. The important role of textiles during industrialisation; the development of textile tools and techniques; the role of textiles in relation to culture, belonging and identity are some examples. The programme offers students theopportunity to develop and discuss the role of textiles in a contemporary craft context and in relation to society at large.

The language is full of textile metaphors - weaving, braiding and following threads - but textiles themselves are also carriers of codes and values that reflect both historical and prevailing social and economic systems. Contemporary and traditional textile techniques, expressions and perspectives constitute powerful tools for artistic design, research, critical approaches and norm-critical materialisation. During the programme, students are expected to write and reflect on their work.

The programme prepares students for both professional careers as well as further studies at doctoral level.

The first stage involves the assessment of the applicant's submitted assignment and statement of intent, on the basis of their ability to express themselves artistically and to adopt an investigative and reflective attitude, as well as degree of independence in expression. We also evaluate technical proficiency and craftsmanship.

In the second stage, a number of applicants are invited to an interview where the applicant’s motivation for undertaking the programme, ability to reflect on their own artistic attitudes are discussed in relation to the previously submitted applicant assignment.
