Dual Degree

B.S.E., Elementary and Special Ed/M.S., Speech Language Pathology

The B.S.E. in Integrated Early Childhood, Elementary and Special Education, with a Concentration in Speech-Language Pathology, joins undergraduate teacher preparation (B.S.E.) with a master's (M.S.) in speech-language pathology. If candidates maintain the dual degree requirements during the undergraduate portion of their program, they receive automatic admission into the graduate speech-language pathology program.

The Program

This dual degree program (B.S.E/M.S.) provides candidates with two career paths, both dedicated to serving others, teaching and speech-language pathology. The undergraduate program in elementary and special education — coupled with general education, a content major and speech courses — is rich with real-world experiences in a range of school clinical settings. Undergraduate candidates finish with, at minimum, eligibility for two teaching certificates.

Consistent performance in academics and clinical experiences leads to automatic acceptable to the graduate master's program in speech-language pathology. The graduate program prepares candidates to work in a range of settings from homes, schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and more. This rigorous dual-degree program provides one-on-one advisement beginning in the first semester of freshmen year, ensuring students remain focused on program requirements and graduating within the four-year time frame prior to the master's program.

The program is aligned with national InTASC standards and national accreditation standards by CAEP .
