AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

The degree course in Agricultural Science and Technology  aims to provide knowledge and adequate skills in the field of vegetal  and animal production for protection and sustainable management of agro-systems. The new EU policy directives in agriculture have represented a landmark in developing the course contents.  During the course, specific and related subjects are organized to provide training on three levels:

• basic propaedeutic / methodological level, in the areas of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and plant and animal genetics.
• basic knowledge related  to the areas of economy and rural appraisal, agronomy, plant pathology, agricultural microbiology, agricultural engineering and animal husbandry;
• specific knowledge, with reference to the field of herbaceous crops and  arboriculture, livestock breeding, animal nutrition and agricultural policy, microbiology and agricultural industries with particular concern to the quality of production and the conservation of agro-environmental resources.

The didactic structure of the degree course in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies also aims to provide students with an intellectual openness that allows them to address issues related to the productivity and management of agrosystems in a vision of environmental sustainability. In addition, the degree course integrates knowledge on topics of agricultural  and economic policy with issues on product quality. It also provides graduates with the basic knowledge for the planning and the management of the agro-zootechnical supply chain.
