Civil Engineering

Students pursuing a civil engineering degree converse in a big, industrial space full of civil engineering equipment.

Interested in a civil engineering degree?

People with a civil engineering degree are concerned with the planning, designing and construction of society’s civil infrastructure, including bridges, buildings, dams, tunnels, airports, railroads, roads, water and wastewater systems, and environmental protection systems.

Civil engineering majors may choose a general track of study or focus their studies on one of six major tracks — environmental, geotechnical, pavements, structures, transportation or water resources — with additional work in a combination of the other tracks.
