Biological Sciences (MSc)

Our students work with faculty who are recognized on a provincial, national and international level. Students in the biological sciences graduate programs are part of a dynamic, research-intensive environment and are surrounded by excellent facilities and state-of-the-art laboratory equipment for all fields of biological research.

  • Thesis – 6 terms (2 years)

Applications are accepted until the program is full and may be looked at on a first-come, first-served basis after the deadline. Applications typically open in October.

Because of the time required to complete the immigration formalities and obtain the necessary documentation, applicants are advised that it may take several months from admission to the receipt of a student visa or study permit/authorization. International students should allow up to six months (24 weeks) for their paperwork for visa applications. Admission entry points can be delayed once a visa is secured.


Admission requirements

  2. Complete the online application and submit the non-refundable application fee.
  3. You will need to submit your transcripts as well as the following program specific materials
    • Three references are required.
    • A Statement of Research Interest: No more than two pages in length, in which applicants indicate their career aspirations/plans, specific research interests, and experience relevant to their interests. A potential thesis supervisor must have been contacted and he/ she must be identified in the statement of intent.
    • Acceptance into the program requires that a faculty member in the Department of Biological Sciences agrees to supervise the student’s research program. Prospective students must contact potential supervisors in the Department of Biological Sciences. The potential thesis supervisor should be identified in the statement of research interest.
