If you’re new to IT and want to break into this fast-growing industry, La Trobe’s online Graduate Certificate in IT Fundamentals provides a strong foundation of IT skills that you can apply across a wide range of industries, from media and government to health and education.

In as little as six months you’ll:

  • Understand how to design and create software solutions using Python. Learn how to tackle practical problems using real-life scenarios.
  • Build foundational skills in computer operation, hardware components, data storage and retrieval, system software and more.
  • Study how probability and statistics are applied to data science.
  • Design and implement your own commercial standard database system to meet specifications.

You’ll also have the opportunity to specialise in one of several booming areas, including cloud analytics, artificial intelligence or cybersecurity.

Completed in as little as 14 months, you’ll work on real-world projects from our industry partners in our virtual lab while you study. The lab gives you a way to practice and perfect your skills with the software commonly used by IT professionals such as Cisco Packet Tracer, OPNET (Riverbed Modeller), Apache Tomcat, SPSS, MATLAB, MySQL and Oracle.
