GET TO KNOW YOUR PROGRAM

The growing demand for the development and optimization of processes in sectors such as industry, food, agriculture, health, and molecular diagnostics has fostered the incorporation of biotechnological techniques for the creation of new products and services.

In this way, the development of biotechnological processes benefits a large segment of the population given its wide range of application.

Graduates from the Master of Science in Biotechnology from Tecnológico de Monterrey are able to work in academic, scientific, and industrial environments, as well as in the creation of knowledge

To train high-level professionals in the area of biotechnology who are committed to their communities and who are aware of the need to create new sustainable technologies with a spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation.

Top quality graduate program that allows the student to acquire a holistic vision of the field of biotechnology not only from a basic science standpoint, but also from applied science.

Students that graduate from this program are highly recognized for their ability to conduct high-impact research and develop sustainable technology that is both socially and economically beneficial.

The academic program’s faculty is made up of research professors where almost the majority belongs to Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNI, Spanish).

Tecnológico de Monterrey holds accreditations such as: SACS*, CIEES, SEP, and CONACYT**.

* Tecnológico de Monterrey is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Contact the Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097 or call (+1) 404-679-4500 for questions about the accreditation of Tecnológico de Monterrey

RESEARCH

The three Lines of Generation and Application of Knowledge (LGAK) were defined according to the academic program development and the needs of research training at a national and international level

Those three lines are:

  • Food and nutrigenomics biotechnology.
  • Bioprocess engineering
  • Pharmaceutical and medical biotechnology.

The overall objective of the program is to train the graduates from the Master of Science in Biotechnology as scientists able to produce innovative knowledge to establish cutting-edge technologies relevant for the biotechnological sector, with special emphasis in food, pharmaceutical, bioprocess engineering and life sciences areas. Additionally, Research Groups with Strategic Focus (RGSF) associated with the academic program promote the development of research topics in the three lines of knowledge mentioned above.
