1.  The Master’s student in Society, Law and Religion has an basic knowledge of Roman Catholic Canon Law and the law of other christian churches, and the interaction of these legal systems with supranational and national law.
2.  The Master’s student in Society, Law and Religion possesses basic skills to understand and analyse the Code of Canon Law within the context of secular law (option 2A) or master the theories and methods associated with other disciplines (Law, Theology, Social Sciences, etc.) necessary for his or her own research in the field of Society, Law and Religion (option 2B).
3.  The Master’s student in Society, Law and Religion calls into question evident points of view (whether or not his or her own) on law and religion, acquires a critical and investigative approach, is capable of distinguishing new challenges in his or her area of expertise and translates this into adequate and relevant research questions.
4.  The Master’s student of Society, Law and Religion collects, selects, analyses and evaluates relevant scientific information in order to answer a research question.
5.  The Master’s student of Society, Law and Religion can adopt a nuanced and scientifically founded point of view on new research questions. He or she is capable of explaining this point of view, both systematically and comprehensibly, and discussing it in an open and respectful manner.
6. The Master’s student of Society, Law and Religion is able to elaborate and implement a scientific research project under supervision and to present the results orally and in writing.
