Master of Science in Regulatory Affairs

Prepare to play a pivotal role in managing the regulatory activities necessary to bring drugs and medical products to market.

Master of Science in Regulatory Affairs (STEM)

The demand has never been greater for professionals who can help companies ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the development and commercialization of new drugs and healthcare products. The Master’s in Regulatory Affairs (STEM designated) at Northeastern University prepares students to be masters in the field of global regulatory affairs, and enables existing regulatory affairs professionals to refine and update their knowledge of global regulatory affairs statutes and practices.

Key differentiators of our program:

  • STEM Designation: International students can apply for a 24-month OPT STEM Extension to the 12-month Optional Practical Training (OPT) period, which allows you to work in the U.S. for up to 36 months after graduation.
  • Unique Concentrations: Choose from one of five degree concentrations that best align with your professional goals: Quality Assurance and Compliance, Clinical Research Regulatory Affairs, Biopharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs, Medical Device Regulatory Affairs, and Nonclinical Regulatory Affairs.
  • Flexible learning model that meets your needs: On-ground at our Boston, Seattle, or Toronto campuses or online. Please note, international students studying at our U.S. or Canadian locations must maintain full-time enrollment status each academic term to comply with student visa regulations. Enrollment in online courses will be restricted.
  • Experiential Learning: Acquire hands-on experience through in-the-field research, capstone projects, co-op opportunities or an integrative learning experience at your current employer.
  • Power of the Network: Forge connections with our network of alumni from some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical, biologic, and medical device companies, including: Genzyme, Boston Scientific, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, Novartis, and Merck.
