Overview
Description
The program is meant to meet the needs of practicing engineers who may be engaged in the design, commissioning and management of environmental facilities and infrastructure systems. The program is designed for those who wish to strengthen their environmental engineering knowledge and management skills, as well as to prepare themselves for advanced engineering practices with management responsibilities. The programs also enable students to take several electives from other related programs.
Content

Students are required to choose 30 credits from foundation and elective courses including an optional independent project. For details about program curriculum, please refer to Postgraduate Program Catalog.

HKIE Environmental Discipline

Graduates of MSc (EVEM) would be eligible to apply for HKIE corporate membership under Environmental Disciplines. For details, please refer here.

Curriculum

MSc students are required to take a minimum of 30 credits of courses, including 18 credits of foundation courses, and at least 3 management related courses, while PGD students are required to complete a minimum of 15 credits, with at least 9 credits of foundation courses and at least 2 management related courses. Admission and English Proficiency Requirements

Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in Civil/ Chemical/ Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field with second-class honors or higher, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university or tertiary institution. For English Proficiency Requirements, please refer to HKUST Fok Ying Tung Graduate School.

Program Fee

For 2024/25 Fall intake (September 2024):

The nominal program fee for MSc in Environmental Engineering and Management for full-time study is HK$178,000 (paid in 2 installments) and part-time study is HK$155,000 (paid in 4 installments) respectively. 

The nominal program fee for Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Engineering and Management for full-time is HK$89,000 (paid in 1 installment) and part-time study is HK$89,000 (paid in 2 installments) respectively.
