Teacher Education, M.Ed. Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Concentration

The Master of Education in Teacher Education with a concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language program is designed to prepare experienced teachers with critical knowledge, skills, and dispositions in action research, professional development, and leadership to work effectively with multilingual learners in both local and global contexts. It is a 36-hour program offered for full-time and part-time students, with classes held both on-campus and online.

Through the coursework and field experiences, teacher candidates have the opportunity to apply their learning in their own classrooms. Additional instructional opportunities will also be provided for those interested in working in community-based instructional settings.

The Student Experience

• Courses include Introduction to Equity Education, Literacy Instruction for Multilingual Learners, and Applied Linguistics.
• Research interests include teacher development, appreciative education, international education, language education policy, language testing, classroom assessment, and language ideologies.

After Graduation

Graduates of the program are well-prepared for successful careers as K-12 teachers, community college instructors, school district administrators, and foreign service.
