The Masters of Strength and Conditioning is an advanced programme customised to produce highly skilled exercise practitioners based on review-informed modules. Students will gain the expertise to develop personalised strength and conditioning programmes that are grounded in science and backed by evidence, monitor progress and deliver feedbacks. Students will also have the opportunity to carry out a practical placement with our external sport partners where they will gain valuable, hands-on experience in a high performance or professional sport setting. This programme also concludes with a significant independent research project, allowing students to apply the knowledge and techniques they have acquired as well as data analysis skills to answer a scientific question relevant to strength and conditioning that will further develop their understanding.

  3. This programme can facilitate accreditation from relevant strength and conditioning awarding bodies.
  4. The majority of our staff are well versed in sport science and established sport scientists. Our staff are also able to maintain close links with the industry, which can ensure current professional practice is made known to students.
  5. Small class sizes allow students to receive the personal attention required to thrive in their studies.
  6. Undertake a research project under the supervision of world-leading research staff, with expertise in neuromuscular physiology, the biomechanics of sports technique and strength exercise, nutrition and rehabilitation.
A Strength and Conditioning degree opens the doors to a number of exciting career paths, with excellent career progression opportunities in organizations that require graduates of the Master of Strength and Conditioning are those within high performance setting which involved physical training programmes to optimise sport performance, improve physical fitness in general, prevent the risk of injuries and reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases. Graduates will also be capable of establishing their own consultancy business or progressing on to a higher academic qualification.



Notes : The credit distribution of the regular semester is 12-19 credits while the short semester is a maximum of 8 credits.

  1. Band 5.5 ≥ IELTS Academic.
  2. Score 550 (PBT) / 213 (CBT) / 80 (IBT) in TOEFL.
  3. Band 4 ≥ MUET.
  4. Score 42 ≥ PTE Academic.
  5. Grade C ≥ English Language in A Level, Univ. of Cambridge.
  6. Grade C ≥ Cambridge Assessment English: First (FCE).
  7. Grade C ≥ Cambridge Assessment English: First CAE.
  8. Grade C ≥ Cambridge Assessment English: First (CPE).
or

Pass an English proficiency test approved by the University.

UM offers a course leading to proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia which international students are required to attend before the degree is conferred.
LOCAL & INTERNATIONAL STUDENT  

1. Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree with CGPA of 3.0 and above in a sports-related field will have priority for admission AND pass interview.

or

2. Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree with CGPA of 3.0 and above in any field must fulfil one (1) of the below criteria AND pass interview :
  1. have experience as a high performance athlete;
  2. have at least one (1) year of working experience in a sports field;
  3. Have at least three (3) years of working experience in any field;
or

3. Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree with CGPA of 2.7 to 2.99 may be considered if they fulfil at least one of the following criteria AND pass interview :
  1. a graduate of the Universiti Malaya; priority will be given to the graduand of sports-related field
  2. has relevant three (3) years work experience; five (5) years in any field
  3. has produced publications in relevant fields
  4. is a scholarship recipient
or

4. Applicants with a Bachelor's degree with CGPA of 2.5 to 2.69 may be considered if they fulfill at least ONE (for UM graduate) / TWO (for non UM graduate) of the following criteria AND pass interview :

  1. has revelant five (5) years work experience;
  2. has produced publications in relevant fields;
  3. is a scholarship recipient;
  4. is a government agency staff;
or

5. Other qualifications approved by the Senate from time to time

or

6. APEL (A) INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

  1. Has other qualifications recognized equivalent to it by the Government of Malaysia and approved by the Senate of the Universiti Malaya; and
  2. Must have at least IELTS band 5.5 or TOEFL score 550 (paper based)
