M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Mississippi State University
- Thesis option: 24 hours of course work and 1 hour of graduate seminar are required along with 6 hours of thesis research. Of these 24 hours, up to 6 hours of “Directed Individual Study” courses can be included. A thesis and a final oral exam are required.
- Non-thesis option: 30 hours of course work and 1 hour of graduate seminar are required. Of these 30 hours, up to 6 hours of “Directed Individual Study” courses can be included. An oral presentation is required.
Program Structure
During your 1st semester:
- Work with your Major Professor to plan your program of study and submit it to the ME Graduate Office. Note that at least one-half of the course work must be at the 8000 course level. (7990 experimental course and 7000 special problems course count as 8000.
- Establish a Graduate Committee with the advice of your Major Professor, and submit form to the ME Graduate Office.
