About the BS in Computer Engineering Degree

Why Study Computer Engineering at Cedarville?

Cedarville University’s BSCpE degree will prepare you for a successful career as a computer engineer. The innovative curricula take advantage of up-to-date facilities, experienced faculty, and vast scientific and engineering resources. Whether setting the foundation through lectures, or putting engineering to practice in design competitions or laboratory exercises, we will provide you with an excellent education founded on biblical principles.

Computer engineering is a branch of engineering that bridges the space between electrical engineering (the electronic hardware) and computer science (the software). Computer engineers commonly embed computing into other systems, such as cars and appliances. But more than just preparing you for a career, Cedarville’s distinctly Christian engineering program will prepare you to use your vocation as ministry for Jesus Christ.

What Can You Do With a BS in Computer Engineering?

What can you do with a computer engineering degree? With near 100 percent placement rates in any given year, our graduates have found great success in securing employment as computer engineers. For example, some of our graduates are working for Northrop Grumman, AMD, Honda, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Microsoft, and Cummins.

Our graduates are also prepared to enter graduate school and have enrolled in top research universities like The Ohio State University, University of Northern Illinois, Air Force Institute of Technology, University of Dayton, and University of Cincinnati, to name a few.

Opportunities to Learn Outside the Classroom

As you're pursuing a computer engineering degree at Cedarville, your coursework will be complemented by co-curricular opportunities.

Co-op Program — When participating in the co-op program, you will begin earning a salary while still in college, gain professional experience, make great networking connections, and more. View our co-op handbook.

Internships — Our students have found that there's no substitution for real-world experience. Our graduates have completed internships at the Air Force Institute of Technology Autonomy & Navigation Technology Center, Cummins, Northrup Grumman, Honda, among others.

Competitions — Cedarville engineering students participate in many design competitions sponsored by national and international organizations such as the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), SAE International, NASA, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the Department of Energy (DOE), and the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE). Check out our teams and compare their results to those from other universities — you'll be impressed!

Student Organizations — You will be encouraged to become an active member of one or more of our national and international professional societies. They organize meetings, promote tours of industry, travel to regional conferences, and rub elbows with professionals at senior section meetings.

Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) — IEEE, a branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, exists to promote technical and professional growth among electrical and computer engineering students.

Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) — SAE provides its members opportunities to gain broader insight into the engineering profession.

Society of Women Engineers (SWE) — SWE is an organization that stimulates women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders.

The Society of Engineers Aiding Missions (SEAM) — SEAM's mission is to educate, equip, and engage engineers in the cause of world missions.

Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society — Tau Beta Pi is the national engineering honor society that recognizes junior and senior engineering students for outstanding scholastic achievement combined with a strong character. Cedarville University is home to the Ohio Nu chapter.
