Master of Music in Cello Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy

CIM Conservatory Suzuki Pedagogy candidates must be admitted to the Master of Music degree program in Performance. The Pedagogy curriculum promotes the exploration and application of Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy, utilizing the Suzuki method to demonstrate principles of playing and teaching violin and cello. CIM Suzuki Pedagogy students will learn the foundations of playing an instrument and the fundamental techniques of the repertoire in Volumes 1 through 10 of the Suzuki Violin/Cello School repertoire; perform from memory demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of the repertoire Volumes 1 through 10 of the Suzuki Violin/Cello School repertoire; have a comprehensive knowledge of supplemental scales, arpeggios, études and works from the standard repertoire; 100 hours of written observations of private lessons and group classes; and complete Capstone Project Graduation Lecture Recital. All students that satisfactory complete the degree program requirements will have Volumes 1-10 training and Practicum registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas.

MUPD 345, 345a, 346, 346a, 347, and 348 for a total of 12 credit hours in Suzuki Pedagogy with practicum teaching under supervision of Pedagogy instructor.
