Educational Psychology MSc

The University of Dundee, the Scottish Government, and the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) have worked with the wider National Scottish Steering Group for Educational Psychology (NSSGEP) over the last two years to review the training arrangements for Educational Psychologists in Scotland.   Primarily, this responded to requests from the profession to explore a Doctorate in Educational Psychology, to replace the current MSc Educational Psychology (Scotland). Following the review, a new Doctorate in Educational Psychology is currently proposed from 2025 and the programme is now under development in accordance with quality and academic standards procedures. Note the timeline may evolve as the project progresses.

To support the logistics of moving from one training model to another, there will be no intake of new students in 2024 to the current MSc Educational Psychology (Scotland) course.  The University of Dundee is undertaking the necessary development work for the new qualification.  This will include seeking required accreditation and delivering final assurances around the new Doctorate, to the co-funders of the training model, Scottish Government and COSLA.

Students currently enrolled on the MSc Educational Psychology (Scotland) will complete this degree as expected.
