Master of Arts in Higher Education

Become a visionary professional prepared for leadership, ready to advance student learning and improve institutions of higher education. In a small cohort of twelve, learn and practice the principles for effective education and explore the functions, issues, and leadership of higher education. Graduates will leave the program prepared for leadership roles in colleges and universities.

The Master of Arts in Higher Education offered through the Dr. Jo Watts Williams School of Education builds on the strength of Elon as a national leader in active and engaged learning. Students are immersed in the study of higher education in a student-centered environment rooted in hands-on, experiential learning with a global perspective. Enrollment is full-time in this two-year, 36-hour program that incorporates study away, two internships, a paid apprenticeship, and a capstone project.

The Elon Master of Arts in Higher Education’s tuition cost for 2024-2025 is $17,842. Tuition is updated in February of each year. Tuition will not increase for a student’s second year in the program. Every student admitted to the program will be given full consideration for a scholarship; no additional application is necessary. Every member of last year’s cohort received a merit scholarship.

A part-time pathway to complete the Master of Higher Education degree is available for Elon employees.
