Short description

Established in 2017 as an Institute, the Faculty of Economics (GTK) is a recent addition to ELTE, Hungary’s oldest and most distinguished university, but it is already a strong contender for being the No. 1 among Hungarian business and economics programmes. Within three years of becoming a Faculty in 2021, we have become the single most sought-after school for Business Economics Master’s training in Hungary, and for Bachelor’s, a Top3 provider with respect to size, with the highest minimum points for entry.  In total we currently have over 6,000 students.

We take a modern approach to business education, promoting responsible leadership and sustainable business practices in close collaboration between students and teaching and research staff.

Primarily targeting international business environments, our trainings are attractive to high-ability and diligent students, and we currently offer two English degree programmes at bachelor level, namely International Business Economics (8 semesters) and Finance and Accounting (7 semesters). International students share classes with Hungarian students and also Erasmus+ and guest students from partner Universities. Despite its short history, GTK is a proud member of the Business Graduates Association (BGA), an international membership and quality assurance body of Business Schools and has already accumulated two recognitions and accreditations. Further international accreditation processes have also been initiated. Two of ELTE GTK’s programmes boast international accreditations by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the world’s most prestigious professional body in the field of finance and accounting. In addition to exemptions available to students on the Master’s in Accounting programme, it is ELTE GTK’s Finance and Accounting BA programme which is the only Hungarian bachelor’s programme to have earned five exemptions from ACCA’s examinations.

By completing the programme, students become experts in international market processes, the operations of the EU, and the economic, political, and cultural impacts of globalisation. The programme includes two semesters of compulsory internship (professional practice), one of which must be realised in an international work environment, and this gives students a real competitive advantage in the job market worldwide.

Watch this short video where students tell you why they like studying at ELTE GTK.
