About the Course

Find your niche and develop team-building and collaboration skills by working in specialized roles on commercials, documentaries and short films. A wide variety of filmmaking, editing and cinematography courses will help you achieve well-rounded capabilities and create head-turning work.

In our FMTV program you will:

  • fine tune film and TV production abilities using industry-standard production equipment in large, well-equipped studios and state-of-the-art video and audio editing suites
  • gain valuable experience in every aspect of production including script writing, lighting, direction, shooting, post-production, distribution and exhibition
  • complete your education with training in business and marketing, opportunities to connect with industry professionals, and a final-semester work placement
  • premiere your work at high-profile program showcase screenings

Student films produced in FMTV are regularly selected for a number of leading film festivals including TIFF Top Ten, Hot Docs, Montreal World Film Festival and Air Canada EnRoute.

The Humber College’s Film and Television Production (FMTV) advanced diploma program has prepared thousands of graduates for a range of permanent and freelance positions in television, feature film production and post-production. These positions include writing, directing, producing, camera operations, lighting, sound recording, and picture and sound editing.

Additionally, graduates work in casting, location scouting, marketing and distribution. According to Ontario Creates, Ontario’s film and TV industry supported more than 32,800 jobs in 2017 and contributed $1.6 billion to Ontario’s economy.
