Psychology (M.A.)

Program Description

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Psychology (Thesis) offered by the Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Science is a research-intensive program that emphasizes comprehensive and challenging learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in literature synthesis, research methodology, and scientific communication to either continue their studies or pursue professional opportunities.

Unique Program Features

  • The program may be taken as one of two tracks Clinical Psychology or Experimental Psychology which equips students to then pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree;
  • The Departments conducts cutting-edge research across psychological domains such as Behavioural Neuroscience, Clinical Psychology, Cognition & Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental Science, Health Psychology, Quantitative Psychology & Modelling, and Social & Personality Psychology;
  • The Department collaborates with a network of Departments of Psychology at the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital, the Allan Memorial Institute, the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, the Jewish General Hospital, the Montreal Children's Hospital, and the Montreal General Hospital to permit graduate students to undertake research in a hospital setting.

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
