Dual Master's Degree in politics and Public Policy with Università Bocconi in Milan

Sciences Po and the Università Bocconi in Milan have created a dual master's degree in Politics & Public Policy.

Through this two-year programme, students will have the opportunity to learn the key concepts of political theories and phenomena in a comparative perspective, as well as quantitative methods for theoretical and empirical analysis. The dual-degree also explores the intersection between public policy and cutting-edge technologies, and emphasizes policy and decision making 2.0.

Please note: the language of instruction is English and includes the writing of a Master’s thesis (which will be defended at Bocconi), and an internship of at least 10 weeks.

First year at Università Bocconi

The first year takes places at Università Bocconi, in Milan, where students join the MSc in Politics and Policy Analysis.

This MSc aims to provide an advanced education in Political Science and the topics of public policy analysis. Students will understand the complex political, economic and social dynamics of the modern world, how national and international institutions deal with them and how to act in such contexts. They will acquire advanced training in the methods of analysis and study of both public policies and the institutions which lead the decision making process.

Second year at Sciences Po

During their second year, students are enrolled at Sciences Po, in either the Master in Public Policy or the Master in European Affairs.
Students choose also one among the 11 policy streams of the School. The large choice of elective courses also contribute to build a personal path on the basis of the student’s professional project.

This multidisciplinary curriculum trains students to understand complex policy issues, to think critically and propose concrete and innovative solutions.

  • The Master in European Affairs allows students having a strong interest for the European integration project to study and deepen their knowledge in European law, politics and economics, but also history and sociology. The Master’s therefore educate students in a very multidisciplinary context.
  • The Master in Public Policy, an international reference in the field, offers a transdisciplinary programme in human and social sciences and helps responsible actors to think critically about complex policy issues. Students follow core courses such as Ethics or Disruptive Technology and Leadership, combining economic, ethical, historical, political, management and technological approaches.

In Sciences Po, students enrolled in the Master in Public Policy will follow the third semester courses (fall semester for the Master year 2) followed by the second semester courses (spring semester for the Master year 1) of the regular programme.

Students enrolled in the Master in European Affairs will follow first year Master courses: semester one and semester two courses.

All students will then have to defend their master's thesis in Bocconi in order to graduate.
