A Bachelor's degree pegged at least at Level 6 on the Malta Qualifications Framework, in an area of study related to health care, ICT or any other area deemed suitable by the Board, awarded by this University or any other higher education institution recognized by Senate.

Applicants in possession of a degree classified with Third Class (Honours) or Category III may also be admitted provided they satisfy the Board of Studies that they are in possession of other qualifications, or relevant work experience, obtained following their first cycle degree.

The admission of applicants may be made conditional on the results of an interview conducted for the purpose.

Interviews, when necessary, shall be conducted by a board composed of at least three members.

Applications for our February and October intakes have been officially open since the third week in November. You can submit your application online. This interdisciplinary postgraduate course exposes you to modern digital technologies that are becoming vital to improve personal wellbeing and to the understanding, prevention, diagnosis and management of illnesses. Applications on smartphones, wearable sensors and intelligent environment monitoring systems are able to gather personal health data that can be used to facilitate decision-making and in the development of personalised care plans. Healthcare professionals can use this information to support the patients in managing their illness, monitor and support independent living, and deliver therapies. This MSc in Digital Health provides you with the necessary technological expertise together with an understanding of the health landscape to help and support patients, increase staff productivity, management of patient records, reduce errors, extend conventional care, and influence the future of healthcare. The course is structured in two streams where you will be introduced to relevant aspects of healthcare, artificial intelligence, data analysis and programming.

This programme of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2021 and by the Bye-Laws for the award of the Degree of Master of Science in Digital Health - M.Sc. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • propose and advise stakeholders on digital health systems and strategies,
  • critically evaluate and develop health policies for digital health,
  • evaluate the legal issues surrounding digital health projects and systems
  • assess the validity of a digital health system, and manage digital health systems efficiently through problem-solving approaches,
  • become a valid asset and a person of reference to any team working on the design, execution, evaluation and maintenance of digital health strategies or projects,
  • use effective communication skills adept to boardroom meetings as well as public speaking in digital health.
