Description


Having been the first master's created in Portugal in this area, the cycle of studies leading to the degree of Master's in Educational Sciences, Area of Specialization in Educational Administration, was established as a training project that undertakes as privileged references three required scientific areas: Educational Administration, Educational Policy and Research Methodology. This master's degree provides relevance to the sociological approaches of education and organizations and of educational administration, as well as to the analysis of the connections between educational policy and administration at different levels. Thus, this degree aims at preparing future masters with skills in the theoretical areas of educational administration, sociology of education organizations, educational policy, research methodology and techniques for collecting and analyzing data, by providing them with updated and critical knowledge on research of national and international reference in the area, and allowing their inclusion in the respective field through the development of a research project. The completion of the first year grants students with a Specialization Certificate in Educational Administration. The successful completion of the master's grants the Master's degree in Educational Sciences.

The cycle of studies leading to the Master's degree in Educational Sciences, Area of Specialization in Evaluation, aims at training specialists in Evaluation with skills to intervene in multiple educational contexts. This cycle of studies aims at equipping master's students with knowledge and skills to: define evaluation contexts, identifying needs and inferring the underlying problems; identify human, physical and financial resources necessary to design and operationalize assessment devices; develop evaluation studies according to specific theoretical and conceptual and methodological frameworks from different research paradigms; further scientific knowledge in the field of evaluation; theoretically discuss a field that is nowadays highly valued from a social perspective; reflect and act on evaluation policies, processes and practices of students, institutions, programmes, projects, etc. The completion of the first year of the master's grants the right to a Specialization Certificate in Evaluation. The successful completion of the master's grants the Master's degree in Educational Sciences.

The cycle of studies leading to the Master's degree in Educational Sciences, Area of Specialization in Curriculum Development and Educational Innovation, is primarily intended for specialized training of professionals of all levels of education and teaching, especially those that perform functions of coordination and guidance related to curriculum management; teachers wishing to reinforce their skills in building class and school curriculum projects; supervisors and advisers that accompany the Initiation to Professional Practice; technicians and consultants who, in different local or national organizations and projects, intervene in the design, development and evaluation of curricula and teaching material, or supervise curriculum development and innovation projects. The training path in this area of specialization will enable master's students to acquire and develop knowledge and skills in curriculum development; discuss policies, models, processes and practices in curriculum; build design, management and project evaluation devices, framed within the requirements of educational innovation and develop research skills and knowledge production relevant to the transformation of curriculum practices in different educational and training contexts. The completion of the first year grants students with a Specialization Certificate in Curriculum Development and Educational Innovation. The successful completion of the master's grants the Master's degree in Educational Sciences.

The Master's in Educational Sciences, Area of Specialization in Health Education, is a cycle of studies that gives relevance to the approaches to paradigms, theories, methodologies, projects, policies and practices in health education, as well as to educational and bioethical issues, to contemporary issues directly and indirectly related to the society of risk, lifestyles, sexualities and risk behaviours, stressing the educational potential of associations in health and the methodological issues and research practices in Health Education. Thus, it aims at providing future masters with skills in fundamental rules of research and in the analysis of empirical and documental data, and allowing the acquisition of relevant and updated knowledge on the development of the field of Health Education, with the goal of drafting the dissertation projects. The completion of the first year grants students with a Specialization Certificate in Health Education. The successful completion of the master's grants the Master's degree in Educational Sciences.

The cycle of studies leading to the Master's degree in Educational Sciences, Area of Specialization in Sociology of Education and Educational Policies, is mainly aimed at professionals involved in education and training institutions (such as universities and higher education schools, elementary and secondary schools, training centres) and in institutions with educational competencies (such as education associations and services provided by municipalities, recreation centres, development projects and institutions, movements and networks of educating cities, and businesses). The cycle of studies will focus on scientific areas, such as Sociology of Education, Educational Policy and Research Methodology. The master's degree aims at promoting scientific improvement and professional development of the master's students, finding themselves in tune with the demands felt in this field in the international arena, as well as with the requirements of a master's degree that clearly undertakes a scientific and pedagogical rigorous perspective and the commitment towards fundamental values for a democratic society. The completion of the first year grants students with a Specialization Certificate in Sociology of Education and Educational Policies. The successful completion of the master's grants the Master's degree in Educational Sciences.

The cycle of studies leading to the Master's degree in Educational Sciences, Area of Specialization in Pedagogical Supervision in Science Education, is a Masters for continuous training of kindergarten teachers and teachers in the area of Physical and Natural Sciences. The Master aims: to promote the acquisition and development of knowledge in the area of supervision, with special emphasis in the context of science education, to promote the development of skills of self - education of teachers, based on research and education in science, promote preparedness teacher educators for elementary and secondary schools; foster research and innovation in the field of supervision in science education. Articulating areas of transversal and specific training, the Master progressively develops skills in the pedagogic supervision and the educational research dimensions. The completion of the first year gives the right to a Postgraduate Diploma in Supervision in Science Education. The approval on the entire Master confers the degree of Master in Sciences of Education in the area of specialization of Pedagogical Supervision in Science Education.

The cycle of studies leading to the Master's degree in Educational Sciences, Area of Specialization in Pedagogical Supervision in Language Teaching, is a Masters in Languages for continuous training of kindergarten teachers and teachers in the area of languages. The Master aims: to promote the acquisition and development of knowledge in the area of supervision, with special emphasis in the context of education in languages, to promote the development of skills of self - education of teachers, based on research and education in languages, promote preparedness teacher educators for elementary and secondary schools; foster research and innovation in the field of supervision in education in tongues. Articulating areas of transversal and specific training, the Master progressively develops skills in supervisiva, educational and investigative dimensions. The completion of the first year gives the right to a Postgraduate Diploma in Supervision in Education Languages. The approval on the entire Master confers the degree of Master of Education Sciences.

The Study Cycle conducive to the Master Degree in Educational Sciences – Area of Specialization in Pedagogical Supervision in Mathematics Education is a Master for continuous training of kindergarten educators and teachers in the mathematics area. The Master aims to: promote the acquisition and development of knowledge in the area of supervision, with particular emphasis in the context of mathematics education; promote the development of teacher self-training skills, based on research in mathematics education; promote the preparation of teacher trainers for primary and secondary education; promote research and innovation in the field of supervision in mathematics education. Articulating transversal and specific training areas, the Master progressively develops skills in supervision, didactic and investigative dimensions. The completion of the first year gives the right to a Diploma of Specialization in Pedagogical Supervision in Mathematics Education. The approval on the entire Master confers the degree of Master in Educational Sciences, in the area of Pedagogical Supervision in Mathematics Education.

The cycle of studies leading to the Master's degree in Educational Sciences, Area of Specialization in Educational Technology, aims at training specialists in the field of Information and Communication Technologies applied to Education/Training. This master's aims at: promoting the acquisition, development and deepening of knowledge and skills in the area of Educational Technology; promoting the preparation of teachers, trainers and other professionals in education with expertise in Educational Technology; training specialists and technical staff for professional structures and spaces in the areas of design, production, development and evaluation of educational technologies; promoting self-training competence, based on research in education, particularly in Educational Technology; fostering the development of capacities for research and innovation in the field of Educational Technology. The completion of the first year grants students with a Specialization Certificate in Educational Technology. The successful completion of the master's grants the Master's degree in Educational Sciences.
