The MBA at Southern Miss is designed for students from all academic backgrounds – not just business! Our classes are offered fully online or in-person at the Hattiesburg Campus. Our unique format of 15 hours of business core + 15 hours of specialized electives in the student’s selected focus area allows our graduates to develop dual skill sets as they progress in their careers. This structure helps students prepare for a career in the field they want with the business foundation they need in a one-of-a-kind customizable MBA structure. From Public Health to Supply Chain Management and Communications to Sport Security – we have specialized electives that work for most students – and we continue to build more! Part-time students can complete the program in around five semesters; full-time students typically complete it in one calendar year.

The College of Business and Economic Development is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

What Will I Learn?

The MBA is the most demanded graduate degree in the world. Our MBA program consists of 30 credit hours, 15 core hours, and 15 elective hours to develop a specialty. Full-time students can complete the MBA in as little as one year, while working professional students can complete the program in as little as two years. MBA students learn decision-making skills, to think critically and strategically, develop analytical skills and communicate effectively. Our students are diverse; about half having undergraduate degrees in business, while the other half have degrees in engineering, science, humanities, health professions, and other fields.
