What is the “right” amount of policing? Can we sustain our healthcare system with a shrinking, ageing population? Under what conditions is it acceptable to enact censorship on social media? These are the types of questions we will tackle in the Master's programme Sociology: Contemporary Social Problems.

Social problems: how do they arise and how do we tackle them?

While we will never be able to provide you with a definitive answer to any of these questions, we will help you build an academic and professional toolkit that will help you critically and skilfully tackle these questions in your future career.

I found policy interesting, how people work together in an organisation, why we sometimes have difficulty making society function smoothly

Why Sociology: Contemporary Social Problems?

  • Become an expert in an important social theme
  • Learn to translate sociological theory into practice
  • Combine Sociology with knowledge from other disciplines
  • Focus on your transition to the labour market
  • Choose a programme with high student satisfaction

The Master's taught me how to connect the world of facts, research and analysis with that of today's society - and also how difficult this can be sometimes.

After graduation

The professional field has a serious need for specialists educated in the social sciences: social scientists who can apply theory and research to specific social problems in practice. This Master’s programme will ensure you are well prepared to do so.
