Degree Note: The Master's of Science in Management from The Business School is only offered to students who pursue WPI's BS/MS Program.

Learn to lead at the intersection of business and technology with a master's in management from WPI. Whether you are an early career professional seeking to enhance your undergraduate education, or an established specialist in your field, you will find that our master of science in management program offers you the flexibility to tailor a course of study to your interests and career objectives. The MS in management program will prepare you to innovate products and services within technology-based enterprises, leveraging a solid and practical understanding of all major functional business areas, from financial management to complex group dynamics and organizational design.

Curriculum

Our curriculum draws from WPI’s strengths in science and engineering to bring innovations into the classroom and give graduates an edge in an increasingly technology-driven and globally competitive business world. MS in Management students participate in integrated core classes that combine principles of finance, business law, marketing, IT, operations, and leadership.

Plan of Study

Master of Science in management students complete the following eight core courses:

  • BUS 500 Business Law, Ethics and Social Responsibility
  • ETR 593 Tech Commercialization; Theory, Strategy, and Practice
  • FIN 500 Financial Management
  • MIS 584 Business Intelligence
  • MKT 500 Marketing Management
  • OBC 505 Teaming and Organizing for Innovation 
  • OBC 506 Leadership
  • OIE 501 Operations Management

Students round out their program with two graduate electives which may come either from inside or outside the Business School.

Already Pursuing a Major in Another Area of Study? Consider a Minor.

Whether you’re pursuing a bachelor’s in business and want to gain information technology skills with our minor in management information systems or you’re majoring in robotics engineering and want a business background with our business minor, you have the flexibility to choose the path that fits your interests. Our minors typically entail six courses and completion of a capstone project. Choose the business minor that best matches your career goals – it doesn’t have to directly relate to your major!
